Thread Lifting (Face, Neck, Brow / Fox Eyes)

Advanced thread lifting for the face, neck and brow.

When skin begins to lose firmness, surgery is not always the first option. Thread lifting is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure that uses medical-grade absorbable threads to provide structural support, create a lifting effect and stimulate collagen remodelling. At Sol Clinic, our thread lifting procedures are performed by an experienced medical practitioner using advanced, personalised techniques selected according to the patient’s anatomy, skin quality and desired outcome. Individual results vary.

Treatment focus

  • What a thread lift is

A thread lift uses specially designed absorbable medical sutures placed beneath the skin to provide support to selected areas of the face or neck. Depending on the type of thread used, the treatment can provide different effects: some threads are designed primarily to stimulate collagen and improve skin quality, others have specialised structures that provide lifting and repositioning of soft tissue. Thread lifting is not one single treatment — there are different thread materials, designs and techniques, and choosing the right one is an important part of the treatment.

  • PDO, PCL and PLLA threads

PDO (polydioxanone) is one of the most established materials used in absorbable aesthetic threads, and depending on the design can provide subtle tissue support or primarily stimulate collagen remodelling. PCL (polycaprolactone) is a biodegradable polymer used in certain long-lasting systems, which can provide structural support while contributing to collagen stimulation over time. PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) is another biodegradable material, with some systems designed to provide lifting support together with a longer-term collagen-stimulating effect. The choice is not based simply on which material lasts longest — it depends on your anatomy, the treatment area, skin quality, degree of laxity and desired result.

  • Different threads, different purposes

Lifting threads are designed with specialised structures such as cones or barbs to provide mechanical support and reposition selected soft tissues. Collagen-stimulating threads are designed primarily to stimulate collagen remodelling and improve skin quality, without creating a significant lifting effect. Longer-lasting thread systems are engineered to provide structural support for longer periods while the material gradually biodegrades. The appropriate thread is selected according to the indication, not simply the desire for maximum duration.

  • Face and neck

Facial thread lifting can address selected areas of skin laxity and loss of definition. The objective is not to create an exaggerated or pulled appearance: a well-planned thread lift aims to create subtle structural support and improved facial definition while maintaining natural facial movement and expression. The neck can be one of the first areas to reveal changes in skin laxity, and thread lifting may be considered for selected patients with mild to moderate laxity.

  • Fox eyes and brow lift

One of the most requested thread techniques focuses on the outer eyebrow and lateral eye area, creating a subtle upward direction to the brow and improving the appearance of the upper facial contour. A personalised brow-lifting technique can help elevate the lateral brow, create a more open-looking eye area, improve the appearance of mild upper-face laxity, enhance brow definition and create a more elongated or lifted eye contour. The objective is not to create an identical shape on every patient — and because the periocular region is anatomically delicate, treatment requires careful assessment and advanced technical knowledge.

  • Immediate support, progressive remodelling

Thread lifting can provide an initial lifting or repositioning effect while the body’s healing response develops around the treated area. As the absorbable material gradually breaks down, the surrounding tissue undergoes a remodelling process, and collagen stimulation is one of the reasons thread lifting can continue to evolve after the initial procedure. However, results vary considerably between patients and depend on the type of thread, treatment technique, anatomy and degree of skin laxity.

How your care works

  1. 01

    A comprehensive consultation

Every thread lift begins with an assessment of facial anatomy, degree of skin laxity, skin quality, facial proportions, treatment area, brow position where relevant, desired degree of lift, previous aesthetic procedures and your expectations.

  2. 02

Selecting the thread and the technique

Only after this assessment do we determine which thread material, thread design and technique are most appropriate. Sometimes the best treatment is a lifting thread; sometimes collagen-stimulating threads are more appropriate; sometimes a combination provides the most comprehensive result. And in some cases another treatment — or surgery — may be a better option.

Thread lifting is not a surgical facelift

A thread lift and a surgical facelift are not equivalent procedures. Thread lifting is minimally invasive and may be appropriate for selected patients with mild to moderate tissue laxity who want improvement without undergoing surgery. A surgical facelift remains the more appropriate option for patients with significant excess skin or advanced structural ageing. During your consultation your practitioner will assess whether thread lifting is capable of achieving the result you are looking for; if the degree of laxity is beyond what threads can realistically address, a surgical approach may be more appropriate.

Why Sol Clinic

Thread lifting is a medical procedure that requires a detailed understanding of facial anatomy, vascular and nerve structures, tissue planes, thread selection and positioning, vector design, facial symmetry, skin quality and individual healing response. The outcome depends not only on the thread itself, but on where, how and why it is placed.

Clinical research reinforces the importance of personalised patient selection and technique, while systematic reviews show that thread lifting can be associated with complications such as swelling, bruising, asymmetry, dimpling and, less commonly, thread visibility or migration. These are discussed with you before treatment.
